Dr. Henderson is an Associate Professor of Accounting at the University of Mary Washington (UMW) where he teaches Principles of Accounting, Managerial Accounting, Accounting for Decision Making and Control, and Accounting Information Systems.
Dr. Henderson is also a Visiting Professor at Aalto University in Mikkeli, Finland. He has accumulated almost 20 years of experience in the Information Technology and Accounting fields in various roles including Assistant Professor, financial analyst, financial systems developer, and project manager.
Dr. Henderson’s research interests focus on Accounting Information Systems (AIS) technology adoption, issues surrounding AIS development, internet financial reporting, and internal auditing.
He has published in the Journal of Information Systems, ISACA Journal, Journal of Systems and Software, Accounting Education: An International Journal, International Journal of Accounting and Information Systems, Journal of Emerging Technologies in Accounting, the Information Resources Management Journal, Management Accounting Quarterly, International Business Research, the Journal of Applied Accounting Research, and Review of Business Information Systems. Dr. Henderson also consults for various government agencies and software firms in the US.
He holds a Ph.D. in Accounting and Information Systems (AIS) from Virginia Tech.
